Aside from having an elegant and simple design style. Michael Kors’ s unique selling techniques had supported his success even as early as the start of his career. He traveled all over the United States to promote his design in a different way which was called the trunk shows.

Trunk shows were a small fashion show that was done in private homes. At the age of 23, he was able to convince Anna Wintour who was an editor for New York Magazine to see his collections. In his earlier journey of fashion designing. He would only be able to display his collection on his apartment bed. Soon he had a public figure like Barbara Walters to be one of the fans for his collection followed by awards for the designs he had made.

The early ’90s were hard for Kors forcing him to file for bankruptcy. Several years passed and Kors had got back on his feet in 1997 and launched the items in his fashion lines at a lower price. At the same time, he also worked for a French fashion house, Celine, as the creative director.

He had the position for 6 years and while holding the job he was continuing and even expanding his fashion line by launching accessories, menswear, and even perfume lines. Michael Kors’ success in fashion design is also marked by the awards that he gained. The coveted Menswear Designer of the year was won by him in 2003. This award is given from the Council of Fashion designers of America.

The Project Runway

Project Runway was a new television program in the United States back in 2004. Michael Kors was assigned to be one of the judges in the http://128.199.249.99 show. Premiered in December 2004 the show was a hit. Kors almost turned down the offer to be one of the judges. Because he thinks the idea of fashion on television is silly. Kors was loved by the fans of the show for his witty and blunt comments.
